Jen + Brett

Someone recently told me that “we spend our whole lives trying to remember what it was like being a kid.”  There is something about being at a fair that evokes those memories of excitement that we all felt as kids: the wonder, thrills and good old fashioned fun.  I can’t think of a more fitting backdrop for a couple who is ready to spend the rest of their lives experiencing those things together.  In marking their engagement in such a  setting, they are saying that these things are important. And they are!  We see it at so many shoots. Excitement before weddings, the wonder that comes with a new baby, the thrill of falling in love (as we see at engagement sessions) and the fun that is had at wedding receptions. The fair is the perfect symbol for this.

We had so much fun at this shoot with Jen and Brett.  It was one of those shoots where I had to pinch myself and ask, “is this really my job?” We had so much fun playing with motion! I do have to admit, though, that I had a near panic attack when I got in my own little bucket on the ferris wheel (with open sides and no seat belts)  to take photos of Jen and Brett in their little bucket.  Luckily, the natural fear wore off and I was able to snag some pretty fun shots of them up there. Another thing that was lucky was that we stayed away from the fried Twinkies and chocolate covered bacon! And once we had our share of excitement, we headed up the road to Del Mar for some shots on the beach. Talk about a perfect day!
