One thing that really stood out to us about this wedding was the way that children were at the heart of the celebration. The flower girl’s expression of awe when Julie walked down the aisle was so sweet (see image below). And the moment when the ring bearer brought the rings up (image below), also just so precious. Julie and Tony could be seen at many points throughout the day swinging, twirling or just holding a child with a smile on their faces. These two are going to make great parents one day!
Julie and Tony heard about us through Julie’s sister, Thuy and her husband Huy, whose wedding we photographed a couple of years ago. So, it was such a pleasure to see these two as guests at the wedding, just as happy as they were on the engagement session. You can see beautiful Thuy giving her toast below. Just as Thuy did, we wish these two a lifetime of happiness! And we are so honored that we were there to witness and document the beginning of it all![]()

Then, back to the property for the poetic, poolside wedding ceremony where guests were greeted with some bubbly and serenaded by strings that pulled on your heart strings (compliments of Caprice Strings). After a cocktail hour, the guests followed the candle-lit pathway to the reception where Mike Moran and Brian Stodart Duo set the tone for a very chill evening of wine and delectable creations by ChileCo, followed with a slice of heaven by Michele Coulon Dessertier. The couple made their getaway in class in a Rolls Royce…the perfect ending to a perfect day! It was such an honor to document this day.

Ellen was happy to twirl for us in her princess dress!

The hands below are those of Steve and Ellen’s parents. They are sitting on their Anniversary bench that was made to celebrate and honor their 30 years of happy marriage…

Vanessa and Brad are a super cool couple who heard about us through friends. All of the friends in this circle are just the nicest people and we feel so lucky to get to work with such a great group of people. Vanessa and Brad got married at Sacred Heart in Coronado and had their reception at the Coronado Community Center, which was such an awesome venue. The thing that stood out most to us about this day was the music. There was an opera singer, Daniel Hendrick, who sang the most incredible performance during the ceremony that everyone in the church clapped, which you normally don’t do during a Catholic mass. After this guy sang, you just couldn’t help it. Then, Vanessa’s great uncle sang Ave Maria. So beautiful and moving. I wish I could relive those two songs. It was just so amazing. Then, at the reception, this super cool couple chose the best music for the DJ to play. It was hard for us not to dance while we were shooting (maybe we did just a little). The reception was just a big, fun celebration and we were blown away again when Vanessa’s dad sang some old standards, including Sinatra, and the woman all formed a kick line. Beautiful couple, incredible music, good food (Ranch Catering + Mona Lisa’s pizza at the end of the night) and a really fun party. Hard to go wrong there. One last thing… Vanessa’s dress was awesome! And the ring bearer’s outfit is just too cute!

Rick and I were so honored that Jenny and Brett wanted to fly us out to Virginia to photograph their big day. The weekend couldn’t have been any more perfect. The scenery there in VA is just so lush and green, which stands in stark contrast to San Diego’s arid, yellow landscape. The air is thicker, and you just feel more grounded there. The weather was gorgeous and everyone was just so darn happy! A majority of the guests came from afar, a true testament to what great people Brett and Jenny are. Even the officiant flew out from the Midwest to do the honors. Jenny plans and coordinates events as her job, which was apparent in the way the day just flowed seamlessly and was filled with so many sweet touches and special details. Our favorite part of the day was the party! The band at the reception was incredible and the guests just had so much fun. Here are some of our favorite images from the day.

Snakeskin boots that Jenny had custom made for Brett, including the real bullet shells, engraving of their wedding date and the Makers’ Mark gold wax seal. This has gotta be the most unique gift ever given to a groom on his wedding day. Nice touch, Jenny!

Veils are just so lovely.

It’s always interesting to wonder what all of this looks like to a 4 year old.

It’s easy to guess what the ring bearer thinks of all of this!

We were stoked when the harsh sun hid behind the clouds for a second so we could grab this shot. To make things even more prefect, we got a little gust of wind.
