Scripps Seaside Forum Weddings

Jan 8, 2021

Rick and I love sharing our favorite venues with you. And Scripps Seaside Forum is one of our most favorite beach wedding venues in San Diego.

Scripps Seaside Forum’s modern architecture and versatile spaces paired with the coastal views and Pacific ocean breeze have made it a top choice among couples seeking a coastal setting for their San Diego beach wedding. Ideal for hosting a medium to large wedding, Scripps Seaside Forum offers six unique spaces with varying rates and capacities. The banquet space is held in the Samuel H. Scripps Auditorium and accommodates up to 200 guests. The entire complex can be rented and includes all spaces, patios, and lawns covering 16,400 square feet.

The Scripps Seaside Forum is one of two wedding venues of the Scripps Institution for Biological Research, an extension of the University of California San Diego. The site was founded as a Marine Biology lab in 1905 by the Scripps family. It has since expanded to study physics, chemistry, geology, biology, and climate, and the Forum was later built to house events. The oceanfront La Jolla venue has since won an “orchid” for its architecture from the San Diego Architectural Foundation as well as a Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects-San Diego.

One of the main features of this gorgeous venue is the ocean front lawn that can serve as a ceremony or reception venue. Beautiful blue waters and sky, soft sand and breathtaking sunset views of the Pacific can serve as the backdrop as you exchange vows or break bread and toast to your marriage with your friends and family. The banquet space is also perfect for your wedding reception and has a sliding wall with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. The banquet space also has the perfect are to set up an open air photo booth. Check out our photo booth, Snapshot Studios, if you’re looking to provide your guests with endless laughter and fun.

Scripps Seaside Forum is also extremely versatile for the style of your event. We’ve seen all different types of weddings here, from relaxed DIY beach vibes to more elegant receptions and everything in between. And the location also offers great visual variety, from the modern architecture to the beach, pier and ocean overlooks, which gives us photographers a lot to work with and enables us to create dynamic images that tell the story of your wedding day against stunning backdrops.

You also have the option to provide your own alcoholic beverages, however management and distribution must be done through their exclusive Giuseppe Beverage Services.
