Have you ever meet a couple who glow with the spark of new couple in love, share the bond of best friends and emanate the grace and charm of an old married couple?  Meet Lizzie and Jonny.  These two are the best, and we feel so lucky to get to be a part of this special time in their lives.  Their photo session included two locations that meaningful to them and their story.

We started off at their home, which is a special place to them…as it’s their first house.  Starting the engagement session at their home was also perfect because they were able to include their dogs (Dover and Zoey) in the shoot, but they didn’t have to worry about managing the dogs on a leash for the entire shoot.  We also had fun incorporating some items from their home into the shoot. Jonny’s last name is Laughter (pronounced ‘Laut- er’), so it lends itself to some fun wedding gifts and hashtags 😉

The second part of the shoot was in Balboa Park, also a very special place for Lizzie and Jonny.  We visited some of our favorite spots, the incredible tree roots in Palm Canyon, the Alcazar Gardens, the Plaza outside the Museum of Man, and Cabrillo Bridge.  The sun started to set just as the shoot was ending which created a beautiful glow matched only by the glowing faces of these two.  It’s very clear that Lizzie and Jonny will make each other happy for a lifetime, and we cannot wait to celebrate this beautiful couple on their wedding day!
A cutting board with their names etched into it; a great engagement gift and perfect prop for a detail shot of their hands.

The whole family

Again, an irresistible prop, considering their last name.

The look of love is on both of their faces, here in the Alcazar Gardens

We just love these beautiful genuine smiles.

It was so fun to photograph this amazing couple in Rick’s hometown of Montclair New Jersey.  Being based in San Diego, it’s such a treat to shoot in a place that is so green!  Yes, we paid for it with some New Jersey heat and humidity, but Jordan and Riz were troopers. Their fun-loving nature made this such a fun outing. There were lots of laughs and beautiful moments where (as you can see) Jordan and Riz were just glowing with happiness and joy.  We started off in Brookdale Park… check out those amazing elm trees and beautiful rose garden!  Then we headed over to Kips Castle, which rests on the highest point in Montclair and offers a beautiful view of New York City as well as incredible architecture that replicates a medieval Norman castle.  Jordan and Riz are both from Montclair and have many childhood memories at these spots.  The evening ended with a shoot on the rooftop of Jordan’s old apartment in Montclair. This was where Jordan lived when he met his future wife.  It was fun to hear them reminisce about the parties they used to have on that roof back when they were dating. We’re so happy that we were able to capture this special time for Riz and Jordan.  These guys are bound to make each other happy for the rest of their lives!

0001 San Diego natrural newborn photographyMeet Colin.  He’s a super chill little munchkin who makes parenting a newborn look easy!  This little guy pretty much slept throughout the entire shoot, except for a few breaks to yawn or scrunch up his face.  We couldn’t be happier for Sean and Leslie, whose wedding we photographed over 6 years ago.  As you can see below, they are both in awe of this beautiful little human being.  Hopefully Colin wasn’t up all night with energy after his relaxing and rejuvenating photo shoot!0002 San Diego natrural newborn photography0003 San Diego natrural newborn photographyShe is in love.0004 San Diego natrural newborn photographyHe is in awe.0005 San Diego natrural newborn photographyBeing adorable is exhausting.0006 San Diego natrural newborn photographyI see a smile!0007 San Diego natrural newborn photographyOne of the few glimpses we got of those beautiful eyes.0008 San Diego natrural newborn photographyThis is where Sean and Leslie probably spend many a night!

0001 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalisticWe hope you enjoy some of our favorite moments from a recent engagement session with Natalie and Matt in Balboa Park.  We started the shoot at the International Cottages, which was fitting, as these two fell in love while studying abroad in Spain.  Their love and endearment for one another shines through in the images, for sure.  Talk about great chemistry!  These just make me smile. I hope they do the same for you.0002 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0003 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0004 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0005 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0006 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0007 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0008 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0009 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0010 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0011 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0012 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0013 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0014 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalistic0015 Narrative Images San Diego natural wedding photography photojournalisticThe evening ended with a beer at Panama 66.  Cheers to an amazing year, Natalie and Matt!

0002 San Diego candid family photographerLiam celebrated his first birthday in style with balloons and a red wagon in the woods. We were so excited for this shoot because we have been there for some of Liam’s big milestone’s already… We photographed his parents when they were expecting and we also got to photograph sweet Little Liam during his first week of life, when he fit in a basket. Now he isn’t so little anymore! He’s got a big personality and pretty much ‘worked it’ for the whole session.  Lucky us! We are so looking forward to seeing this little guy grow through the years…
