Engagement Photos at home and around Balboa Park

Jul 6, 2017

Have you ever meet a couple who glow with the spark of new couple in love, share the bond of best friends and emanate the grace and charm of an old married couple?  Meet Lizzie and Jonny.  These two are the best, and we feel so lucky to get to be a part of this special time in their lives.  Their photo session included two locations that meaningful to them and their story.

We started off at their home, which is a special place to them…as it’s their first house.  Starting the engagement session at their home was also perfect because they were able to include their dogs (Dover and Zoey) in the shoot, but they didn’t have to worry about managing the dogs on a leash for the entire shoot.  We also had fun incorporating some items from their home into the shoot. Jonny’s last name is Laughter (pronounced ‘Laut- er’), so it lends itself to some fun wedding gifts and hashtags 😉

The second part of the shoot was in Balboa Park, also a very special place for Lizzie and Jonny.  We visited some of our favorite spots, the incredible tree roots in Palm Canyon, the Alcazar Gardens, the Plaza outside the Museum of Man, and Cabrillo Bridge.  The sun started to set just as the shoot was ending which created a beautiful glow matched only by the glowing faces of these two.  It’s very clear that Lizzie and Jonny will make each other happy for a lifetime, and we cannot wait to celebrate this beautiful couple on their wedding day!
A cutting board with their names etched into it; a great engagement gift and perfect prop for a detail shot of their hands.

The whole family

Again, an irresistible prop, considering their last name.

  1. […] Lizzie and Jonny got married on a beautiful Summer afternoon on the USD campus, where Lizzie spent many hours over the course of their dating years working on her masters degree in education.  This is important to their story because they met while Lizzie was teaching third grade at an elementary school in San Diego where Jonny was also working as the facilities manager. Lizzie needed a table for her class and after Jonny realized there wasn’t one available, he made one for her.  That’s right. He made her a table!  Needless to say, Lizzie was impressed and this was just the beginning of their journey together.  At their wedding, they even had THE table he made when they met, and their guests all signed it. What an amazing idea. […]
