Before our busiest month of the year (May) started, we decided to get away for a few days… Big Sur is our usual go-to place for a 3-4 day getaway, but we decided to go somewhere we hadn’t been before. Sequoia was the obvious choice, as we’ve heard great things, and it’s only 5 hours drive. So, off we headed to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Here are some of our fun adventures with Dylan! Our great little traveler. You can often find Rick climbing trees and doing squats and push ups in random locations. It can be slightly embarrassing to have Rick do this in very random locations, but Rick doesn’t care. And now Dylan is joining in, which I thought was actually pretty cute.Having fun in the famous Tunnel Log. I love all of the carvings in the tree trunk. Happy Camper. Here Rick goes again…Dylan and me checking out General Sherman, the world’s largest tree! This backdrop almost looks fake! These tress look like they are out of a fairy tale…Getting the fire going…Having some fun in the woods. While we were at the visitor’s center, we came across Bess the Book Bus. This is such a cool non-profit! It is basically a mobile children’s library that travels the country and gives out books to children, especially children in communities that don’t have a lot of access to books. What a great project! We were honored to get to meet the founder and her coworker who are spreading the joy of reading across the country. They even gave two books to Dylan, which was so sweet. Our adventure up the 400 steps to the top of Moro Rock. The view was incredible! Dylan helping Rick to gather some firewood…Rick and Dylan going for a swim in Hume Lake…
