What an unforgettable shoot. Brooke and Kyle are an amazing couple who we first met in 2010 to photograph their engagement session on their family’s property in Julian.  We went on to shoot their incredible wedding (again on the property) the next year.  Five years later, they contact us to let us know they are expecting a baby girl and would like us to take some pictures. This is one of my favorite things about our job; to get to document numerous milestones in the life of a family.  We are so lucky!

All three shoots took place on family property.  The first shoot was on the grandparents property, the wedding was at the parents home, and this maternity session took place right near Brooke and Kyle’s new property.  All shoots involved a stop at Brooke’s childhood home, and the tree you see above (up on the hill) was a focal point that Rick and I were repeatedly drawn to.  Now, Brooke and Kyle have photos near this beautiful tree over a five year period; spanning their falling in love, getting married, and starting a family. I love the symbolism of the tree.

It rained, and we embraced it! It made for some beautiful, saturated colors and a mystical ambiance.  Thanks for being such a trooper, Brooke! People can get wet. Cameras can’t.
