Meet Ciara and Eugene.  These two spunky kids know how to have fun…in style.  They love to enjoy a night on the town, so the Gaslamp Quarter was the perfect setting for their personalized engagement session.  Also their wedding will take place at the historic US Grant, and they will have a lot of guests coming in from out of town. So, they thought it would be fun to give their guests a taste of Downtown San Diego when they share the engagement photos…to get them excited for the wedding weekend. Their shoot was full of so many great engagement shoot ideas!

As you can see, this fun-loving couple is equal parts laughter, sweetness and stunning style.  It was a blast exploring the streets of downtown with them, and we are excited to be able to document this precious time in their lives together. Engagement shoots are a great opportunity to document who you are as a couple.  Thanks for braving the rain and San Diego Convention Center steps in your heels, Ciara.  And thank you to Nason’s Beer Hall, a part of the new Pendry Hotel, for letting us use your beautiful urban space for some creative shots.

As a wedding photographer, it was REALLY hard to choose just a handful of images to share here, since these two are so photogenic!  Let us know which image resonates most with you in the comments below and why.  For me (Bernadette), it’s the shot above.  This image came about when I saw the reflection of the street scene in the window as they were walking inside to check out an interior space with Rick.  The ‘San Diego’ in the vintage yet timeless typeface seemed to fit their wedding vibe and with the downtown street scene, it tells the story of a place that’s really important to Ciara and Eugene. The photo was taken at The Pendry Hotel in San Diego, which looks like a great wedding venue by the way.  I was able to capture them sharing a sweet, intimate moment that is a juxtaposition to the busy streets outside.  Ultimately, what I get from this image is that Ciara and Eugene find peace and contentment in each other as they exist together in a busy, fast moving world.  It’s a moment of silence amidst the noise. All in all this downtown engagement shoot at the Pendry hotel and Gaslamp provided many options to shoot in a documentary wedding photographer’s style and reflect something unique about our newly engaged couple!
