Sonoma Farm Wedding

Jul 11, 2017

Courtney and Chris met as Freshmen in college at Sonoma State, and even though they have lived on the East Coast for the last several years, they decided to tie the knot close to where it all began for them.  They were married in July on a warm, sunny, windy day on Flying Cloud Farm in Petaluma with their closest friends and family who traveled from all over the country to celebrate with them on this beautiful farm and equestrian center in Sonoma County.  The ceremony was in a beautiful garden that was converted into an outdoor dinner reception, followed by dancing inside a hall with a view of the equestrian arena.

Courtney and Chris decided to see each other before the ceremony, and they told us after the wedding that their ‘first look’ or ‘first reveal’ was one of the most special moments of the day.  This quiet, intimate time allowed them a chance to be together,  breath, hold hands and soak in the weight of the day (and all of the feelings that come with it) before the ceremony began. The image above is my favorite for that reason.  Courtney and Chris have been together through incredibly formative years, have shared many life changing moments and have embarked on exciting adventures together…and through it all, they have shared this solid foundation that is their bond.  That’s what this image is about for me.  Even as they are looking outward together, they are holding firmly on to each other.

During the ceremony, the wedding rings were passed around in a ring warming ceremony, where guests were asked to hold them and say a silent prayer or blessing for the marriage.  Once it was time for Courtney and Chris to share their vows, their rings had been held by every one of their guests.  In the image above, the mother of the groom holds them to her heart.
